First off I need to apologize for my lack of writing in such a long time. I am going through some rough times dealing with the loss of my sister. But I promise I will get back to blogging.
This weekend was a great time to heal some and enjoy life a little bit. Jon and I with some friends went to Traverse City, Mi. this weekend to enjoy some wine and sight-seeing and of course shopping. My favorite winery is Pennisula Cellars they are in an old school-house. I love the names of the wines they have. My all time favorite is called Homework but they also have Detention, Old School Red and White. If you are ever there check them out.
My next choice would be Black Star Farms. I love the atmosphere of this place. They have an Inn and some day I will stay there for a weekend. It has a farm with llamas, pigs, chickens, sheep, ducks and many horses. Beautiful place. They make cheese and some awesome wine too. This year I bought some Cherry wine there. But they have a great pear wine that actually has a whole pear in the bottle. Plus they have a little cafe there with some awesome employees that are very helpful.
My new favorite winery is 45 North. The wine that won my heart is their Peach Clemant. Jon likes Brandy so we also bought 45 Gold which is an Apricot Brandy. So good. Here is a few pictures of 45 North.
We also ate at so many great places. For lunch on Saturday we ate at the Jolly Pumpkin which in an earlier Blog post I mentioned that they have the best Grown up Mac and cheese and some great beer too. Saturday night we ate at the Apache Trout Grill where I had the Shrimp and Lobster Bisque it was so rich and delicious. Great start to a great weekend.
Sunday we started the day with breakfast at the Happy Hogg. But the best place of the day goes to 9 Bean Rows cafe. We were told they had the best croissants and so we were on a mission to find this place and try them. I must say the person that told us they were great was so wrong. They were awesome! Plus they make a wicked Squash Creme Brulee. Which I will blog when I get the recipe right.
All in all, I had a great weekend. I needed some fun and it was had. Was totally exhausted by Sunday night but it was worth it.
